Medical Student Interest Groups (MSIGs) are a useful mechanism to encourage outstanding medical students to consider a career in pathology. To that end, ICPI launched a program in 2009 to enhance existing MSIGs and to develop new programs. The program is currently in its third year. ICPI matches up to $1,000 in funds provided by pathology departments to support MSIG programs. To date, 11 programs were funded in 2009, 13 programs in 2010, and 12 programs in 2011. Participating departments are eligible to apply for future funds on a competitive basis. The Deadline for the Medical Student Interest Group 2012 Matching Grant Program Application is October 31, 2012.
